I have been a runner and worked out since being a teenager, and always had my routine. My routine was great and worked for me until it was interrupted by several injuries and back to back surgeries including anarthroscopic knee surgery and shoulder surgery. I worked really hard at my physical therapy sessions to build back strength and get back to working out. I was discharged from PT and not really ready to go back to my old routine of working out, I was stiff, sore, weak and not feeling aligned, so a friend recommended Ann at Perfect Form because she had helped her so much with her back pain through Pilates sessions. I started working with Ann and began to get my strength back, I became extremely flexible and I started to develop some muscles and tone that I didn’t even know was possible! My core was tight and strong and my posture began to get better. 3 months after I started working with Ann, I received some bad news, as I was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 35, and I was going to have to have a double mastectomy. I was completely devastated by the news and I had just literally gotten my strength back. Ann worked with my situation and made a plan designed specifically for me. She then worked consistently with me right up until my surgery to help get me as strong as possible. We really focused a lot on my core, which was critical to have strong and tight in making the recovery much easier. The surgery was rough, but surprisingly, my core remained strong while I was recovering and not able to do much of anything. Around a month after surgery, I was released and began working with Ann in helping me work through my muscles being so tight and getting my range of motion back with having tissue expanders in place, which can really cause you to feel like your upper body is locked up. We also worked together after I was medically released after my reconstruction surgery as well. I had a lot of surgeries in a year and a lot of stress and I know that Pilates, Ann, her knowledge in developing a plan for me, and working on all of the equipment was critical in all my recoveries. I am back to my full running and workout routine now and Pilates is now a critical piece of my routine now to keep my flexibility and build on muscles that I never knew existed. Perfect Form and the Pilates equipment truly can benefit you if you are new to working out or you have been in a routine for years if you are injured or coming back from injury! I really love working out on all of the equipment including the reformer, tower, Cadillac, barrel, and chair. Ann is great at teaching you to use the equipment to best benefit each muscle involved. I love Perfect Form and how knowledgeable Ann is and it is always a fun, friendly and clean environment to walk into. Perfect Form helped me get out of pain, get my body back in shape and heal from such devastating news and surgeries to get back to my workout routine and most importantly back to being a full-time mom. I am forever grateful to my friend who recommended that I meet Ann and just give Pilates a try at Perfect Form. It was a chance that I had to take for myself to feel better, build strength back, get out of pain, and I am so grateful that I did.

A few summers ago, on a break from my ballet company, I stumbled upon Ann’s studio while on a Fresh Market trip. I decided to take class the next day. Normally, I am expected to train in classical ballet classes during my vacations, but after one class with Ann, I was hooked. ........read more +

Ann seemed to know every muscle in the human body. As a professional ballet dancer who suffers from severe scoliosis, it is important that I have good placement in order to work my body correctly. Ann has an innate sense of how to help each muscle group in the human body. Whether I come to her needing more strength for a certain ballet move, or guidance in recovering from an injury, she knows exactly what to do! Ann helps me find my center and always helps me remember that having a strong core is central to all movements of the human body. I have found myself actually improving more from our sessions than if I continued my regular ballet training during the off-season.
